These 40 cards deal with the theme of memory and time, of photos collected in the life of a family and an individual.
Since I left Brazil as a child, for a long time, my biggest wish was to see all the people I cared for, Brazilian and Italian, brought together in one place.
Can you imagine such a place?
It looks like a paradise.
I painted 4 series of 10 cards:
_ I ricordi di ieri e dell'altrove (memories of yesterday and elsewhere): images that create my "Brazil", memories that I have on without having lived them, made of people, stories, places and objects.
_ I ricordi del qui e ora (memories of the here and now): my personal memories, these days.
_ Ritratto di famiglia (family portrait): a decomposed family portrait, taken from a single photo and studied on the portrait of each individual.
_ Insieme, lontani (together, far away): many family photos divided and recomposed, Italian and Brazilian. An initial repetition of the couple's theme, up to look at this link in other relationships: grandmother-grandchildren, friends. The photos from a single shot are divided so that various people from different times and places can be enclosed in a single "family portrait".
I analyzed the themes that I wanted and I want to paint arranging them in this way in order to create a single reading level for the past, present, for what is far and what is near.
